The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

See this movie, if it is playing somewhere nearby. If it's not, consider reading the book of the same name. It's a memoir written by the editor of Elle in the 1990s who had a brain stem stroke that left him "locked-in". He wrote the memoir by blinking his eye, the only part of him he could control, when a girl assigned to take his dictation said the letter he wanted. Letter by letter he told his story of isolation, grief for his lost life, hope for the future, and sorrow for all of the relationships he would never be able to repair. It was absolutely a beautiful film.
